Who is Mr. Optimization?

Like all super heroes who arrive just in time, Mr. Optimization's true identity is something of a mystery.

There's been speculation that Mr. Optimization is really one of these:

Maybe our hero is an industry pioneer who now works for a major vendor, travelling far and wide to spread the word about transformative power of Multivariate Testing and Targeting.

That person would sure know an awful lot about what works and doesn't in all kinds of organizations.

That person would also gravitate toward a forum like this where s/he could contribute the honest truth.

Let's face it, a few BigCo marketers always lead while others cower.

What if our hero is a visionary marketing executive who was relentless about listening to the "voice of the customer" before anyone knew what that meant?

Someone like that couldn't speak on-the-record about the goings on behind closed doors in big company marketing departments. But here?

Direct marketers were data-driven before we had digital anything. What if our hero grew up in direct marketing?

Elastic allowables? CPI leveling? Optimal clustered retention regressions? Someone like that could baby step digital marketers through the data-driven world direct marketers have lived in for decades.

We could learn a lot from their bold, profitable ways.

Our hero could be a tech-savvy attorney specializing in intellectual property, technology acquisition and governance.

A lawyer with a healthy interest in technology and marketing who negotiates with vendors would have a unique point of view, from the happy up-front handshake to the scary "we're not happy" saber rattling.

Someone like that would also like to contribute anonymously to protect the guilty.

Maybe our hero is really a combination of guest contributors with a ton of digital marketing, multivariate testing, targeting and related experience who want to help you do it right.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter who MrOptimization is as long as you become the hero for your digital audiences.
